Eastern European Beer

Postby quikdraw67 on Sun Nov 16, 2008 12:15 pm

I've been on a Central/Eastern European beer kick.

I am sick of American micro-brews. It seems they try to out-do each other as to how

hoppy they can make their beer. Pass.

I have found that Czechvar (known as Budvar in the

Czech Republic..that's right, the ORIGINAL Budweiser, kicks it's American namesakes ass, too)

form the Czech Republic, Golden Pheasant from the Slovak Republic, Okocim Mocne from Poland, and

Baltika 9 from Russia are as good if not better than German beer, and completely kick US

micro-brew ass.

Try one of these if you get a chance, be warned Okocim Mocne and Baltika

9 are about 8% alcohol, so they pack a wallop.

Where do you find this

stuff fresh? I'll check with our specialty foods store, but I'd obviously like to get it as

fresh as possible.

Either in CT or NY, since PA has shitty liquor laws. The

place that usually has the freshest stuff is Fairway Liquors, Danbury CT.

Mrs. QD just

went to the Danbury Mall Saturday, and brought back a few early Christmas presents 8)
